But you know...three's not so bad.  After three years of experience...

Just think of how much trouble you can get into by year four.

Wordless (Almost) Wednesday - Always Bring a Camera!

While it is not always practical or feasible to have my Nikon with me, I am never without a camera.  Of the nine pictures below, four of them were with my cell phone.  Can you guess which ones?

Easter 2014

My husband and I host Easter dinner every year.  After the morning activities have slowed down, family members (my mom, my dad, my sister, my brother-in-law, my niece, and my uncle) all begin to show up at the house.

It is a fun holiday to host.

The afternoon starts out with lots of color ...

Then the egg hunts begin...

She found eggs for everyone.  Good thing she didn't mind when they kept her uncovered treasures.

And of course...there is plenty of family together time...

Note, this last pictures cracks me up...as it is the result of my niece learning the word "cheese".  She loves when everyone repeats the word after her.  I'm already preparing myself for a long future of cheese face photos.

Wordless Wednesday - Find the Selfie

Took this picture during a recent photo shoot (longer post coming about that soon).  After editing, I noticed something a bit out of place...do you see it?

How about now?

Wordless (Almost) Wednesday - Playing with Tinsel

Yes I know it is January - late January at that.  However, seeing as editing took a bit longer than expected, do not be too surprised if you see Christmas pictures throughout January and New Year's pictures throughout February.  On the bright side, you know I won't judge if you'd like to link up to the WW using Christmas photos you're only now getting around to.  ;)

I'm always delighted at how captivated little ones can be with the bits they find in fields of grass.

Christmas Photo Sneak Peek

One of the best parts of the holiday season is that there are so many picture opportunities.  Downside...so much editing!  So, while the editing is being done...here is a sneak peak of a couple Christmas photos:

Wordless Wednesday - The Look

What my mother calls "the Look" is what makes this my sister's favorite picture of my niece. More pictures from this photo shoot can be found here.

First Photos of the Season!

It’s been such a long time since there was a real post – you’ll have to forgive me for being out of practice.

November is the beginning of a beautifully busy time!  First, we have fall pictures, the Thanksgiving pictures, and we have the soon to be Christmas card pictures.  Next will come Christmas pictures (taken on Christmas), New Year’s Eve pictures, Easter pictures…and so on and so on.   That doesn’t even begin to cover the birthday pictures, the maternity pictures, the couple pictures, and the just because pictures.  I'm getting giddy just thinking about it all.
With that in mind I present to you the first of the season’s photo sessions…which features a little one (my niece) you may find familiar as she does appear here often.

As is most often the case, the photo shoot was at familiar ground for my niece - her home.  Because there was too little light coming through the windows alone, we took the pictures on the steps just inside the back doorway.
Wooden Cutouts

This worked out well because the little one had already claimed this area as a play spot of her own.  There she could play with the wooden carvings her great-grandfather made back when her mom was a still kid.

Admittedly, after a while, even with Grandma playing…the flower lost its allure and the little one began to notice that there was an outside just beyond the door.

Lesson 1: When someone wants photos taken where there is too little light…speak up and suggest ways to bring in some light – it’ll be worth it.
Lesson 2: Shooting in manual mode will give you so much more control then shooting in auto.  That being said, make sure you pay attention to light changes.  This is especially true when going from indoors to outdoors or vice versa.
