Photo Art Friday - Music

The challenge this week over at Pixel Dust Photo Art – Photo Art Friday was vintage. 

When I think of vintage what comes to mind is not just the classic yellowing photograph that is slowing falling apart, but also of the timeless joys that can be celebrated over the years.  One such joy is music shared between generations. 

 

 

For this challenge I used:

• PDPA Aging Tool Texture
• Picture of MomMom playing piano
• PDPA Faded Marble Texture

 

 

Really, I think I just liked the idea of using this challenge to remember my grandmother, MomMom.  As I look at the picture I can still remember that while it may have gotten difficult for her to dance, she never lost the ability to express the liveliness of the music deep in her soul.

Cookie Time

Some days it’s all about striking a pose and eating a cookie. 
 

Ok...maybe it's all really just about the cookie. ;)  

Lesson for today: Sometimes it is the simple things in life.  

Photo Art Friday - Connected Friendship

The challenge this week over at Pixel Dust Photo Art – Photo Art Friday was to deal with the theme of connected/connecting/connections in some way.  After spending Saturday in Jersey celebrating friend’s birthday…I had a good idea what to focus on.

In Jersey lives a particular core group of people who are wonderful and crazy, nerve wracking and a joy to be around.   At times they can be jesters, comedians, bartenders, and pranksters.  Always, they are dependable and big hearted.  My husband grew up with these crazy loons he shares no blood with but calls family.  After spending almost a decade getting to know them, I am thankful to be able to call them friends.

• Pictures of my crazy friends.  

 

This is my first time layering so many pictures. I think I'd like to try to erase a little closer to get rid of some of the halos.

Father's Hands

Ok, so I admit it…I’m the cliché newbie getting way too excited about textures and overlays.  Because of that, rather than edit the photos from the car show (which I’ll feature soon enough) we have this little piece.  You may recognize a similar picture from an earlier post.

Photo Art Friday - Bamboo Dreams Challenge

This week's Photo Art Friday's challenge was to use a picture of your own choosing and the Bamboo Dreams texture/background from Pixel Dust Photo Art (pdpa)'s website to create a piece of art.

Again, it sounded like fun....so I made my second attempt at participation:

 

 

I used:

•  pdpa Bamboo Dreams texture/ background
• A picture of my sister playing with her daughter (my niece) from our last photo shoot (aka visit and playtime).
• A quote that I liked found online.




I'm not sure how I'd compare this piece to the last one.  When I first saw the challenge I was hoping to use a picture of some beautiful flower...however it quickly came to my attention that I rarely shoot pictures of flowers.  Mostly I have pictures of friends and family.

That being the case, you get the picture above.  ;)  As written in an earlier post, hopefully as I participate in more challenges skills (and imagination) will improve.

Almost Time for Valentine's Day!

Valentine’s day is almost upon us and with its approach comes some more baby pictures.  I admit, I practically begged my girlfriend to let me come over to take these pictures.     

Luckily, both she and the little one were very open to the idea.  So much so that we had a grand ‘ole time.  In fact…

We had some happy baby time…

Exploring time…

Making new friends time…

 

And even some special Valentine’s day time.

 

 Lesson 1: Pay attention to background colors.

Lesson 2: Try to stay to one theme and tone during shoot.

Lesson 3: Try to stay to one theme and tone while editing.

Photo Art Friday - Dropped Petals Challenge

A week or so ago I came across Pixel Dust Photo Art (pdpa), a really nifty blog where you can find some of the coolest textures and backgrounds.  Each Friday Pixel DustPhoto Art hosts a challenge.  This Friday the challenge was to create a piece of abstract photo art using the Dropped Petals texture/background, one other pdpa texture, and one or two other images.

Sounded like fun…so I give you my first attempt at a challenge:
 

I used:

• pdpa Dropped Petals texture/ background
  (yes this was the background I used for a photo this past WW)
• pdpa Autrefois texture
• One of my favorite firework pictures
  (these were featured with other fireworks back in June).

Not sure how well I did.  I think I need some kind of focal point.  Hopefully as I participate in more challenges my skills will improve.  Wish me luck.  ;)
